The Brewery District continued Over-the-Rhine’s great Bockfest tradition by sponsoring this year’s Bockfest Hall.
On Thursday, we presented the first annual Bocks and Brats Cincinnati Beer Toast on Fountain Square. Even though we were almost drowned out by the torrential downpour, diehard beer-loving Cincinnatians braved the elements and toasted to Bockfest, bock beer, Bockwurst, and the importance of beer to Cincinnati. The Bier Band provided music and Kaldi’s provided the brats. Our celebrity judges determined XXX won the toast and the engraved plaque.
Drier weather prevailed on Friday for the traditional Bockfest Parade, which must have been a sign from above, as the Brewery District’s awesome float won the Grand Prize for Best Float, after being robbed the year before. Congratulations to Ted and his great float building crew!
After our resounding triumph, and the blessing of the Bock Beer, the Brewery District’s Bockfest Hall opened to the crowds. Great music, great sausage, and great bock beer drew a full house Friday night.
Saturday continued the festivities all afternoon long. That night, we were proud to partner with Cincinnati’s historic Rookwood Pottery Company and the Christian Moerlein Brewing Company to unveil the first run, limited edition Moerlein Beer Stein to a packed crowd. With historic Cincinnati breweriana displayed in the Hall, the VIP crowd listened to Jake Speed and the Freddies and learned about the Brewery District’s mission.
