Steins in the Rhine 2007

November 10, 2007 11AM - 6PM
Kaldi's - 1204 Main Street

Based on the success of last year’s “Steins In the Rhine,” the OTR Brewery Distrtict Community Urban Redevelopment Corp and the Christian Moerlein Brewing Company will be co-sponsoring “Steins In The Rhine II.” The event will be a celebration of antique beer steins and Cincinnati-area brewery memorabilia (“breweriana”) It will be held at Kaldi’s at 1202 Main Street in Over-the-Rhine on November 10th, from 11AM until 6PM.

“Steins-In-The-Rhine II” will offer free, informational appraisals of authentic beer steins by members of the Thoroughbred Stein Verin, a chapter of Stein Collectors International, and breweriana experts will be available to give estimates on all other types of historic, Cincinnati-area beer memorabilia. A display of antique steins and Cincinnati brewery memorabilia will decorate the walls and add to the atmosphere of the event. Many items on display will also be available for sale within a broad price range. Items brought to the event can be sold or consigned for an upcoming stein and breweriana auction contingent on interest by the experts present. “Steins-In-The-Rhine II' gives Cincinnati area residents a unique opportunity to both view and seek informational appraisals on the pieces of Cincinnati brewery memorabilia that sit in households, bars, and garages all over the area. "Last year’s event was so successful that people are still asking when we’re going to do it again,” says George Hibben, stein expert. Greg Hardman, owner of Christian Moerlein, Hudepohl, Burger, and several other beloved Cincinnati beer brands stated that, “we held last year’s event because there is hardly a week that doesn’t go by without a customer contacting me to ask the value of a Hudepohl, Schoenling, or Moerlein item. We’re holding Steins II because that interest seems to have actually increased with the release our new beers and the Moerlein-Rookwood stein.”

Kaldi’s will feature traditional saloon fare common in Over-the-Rhine during the 1800’s. All of the tasty Christian Moerlein Brewing Company beers will also be available, including OTR Ale, a beer brewed to replicate ales produced in Over-the-Rhine in the mid 1800’s.

This will be the second-annual “Steins In the Rhine.” Due to the overwhelming success of last years’ event, a large turnout is expected but more table space has been added and you can enjoy a beer and great food while you wait.

The Brewery District will have tee shirts, steins, and our special limited edition "Cincinnati's Breweries" poster for sale.

A portion of Kaldi’s sales will be generously donated back to the Brewery District Community Urban Redevelopment Corp., a non-profit dedicated to rebuilding a modern version of Cincinnati’s Nineteenth Century Brewery District in historic Over-the-Rhine. Steve Hampton, Executive Director of the Brewery District says, “it will be just like Antique’s Roadshow, except we’ll have beer!” So please help us celebrate Cincinnati’s rich German stein and brewing history in the location where it all began - - Over-the-Rhine.

Steins in the Rhine 2006

November 11, 2006

Saturday saw a day-long standing room only crowd from around the region visit Over-the-Rhine for the first annual “Steins in the Rhine” event at Kaldi’s.  The breweriana themed interpretation of Antiques Roadshow in Over-the-Rhine brought collectors of local brewery artifacts and promotional merchandise – everything from cans, bottles and openers to signs and serving trays - down to get their breweriana memorabilia appraised for free.  Coupled with a special menu from Kaldi’s of authentic German food, the extensive display of Cincinnati’s brewing history was a huge success.
